I was introduced to MailCall and starting using the service about a month ago. I was at first intimidated by the process but Josh assured me, “if you know how to use voice mail, using MailCall will be just as easy!” He was right! Remembering the right prompts to hit is really the hardest thing about it.

I like things that are simple, efficient, and maximize my performance as a manager. MailCall is just that tool. I have a lap top with an unlimited wireless connection so I have access to my email whenever I want it. But what about when I’m driving? Or when my lap top is powered down and I need to send an email? Or what if the email is of a sensitive nature and my voice tone and inflection is vital to getting the message across?

Using MailCall has allowed me to broaden my ability to be connected, to send and receive email, and to allow people to hear my voice in sending an email. Here is a scenario. I had to run to a jobsite. I left my lap top at the office because I’m only going to be gone for 20 minutes. On my way I remember something but I do not want to forget it. I hit “MailCall” in my contact list, press #, pin, # then 0 and I send myself a voice email. Or, I notice something on a job that my superintendent needs to know but I want to explain it. I dial MailCall, press his mailbox, send a voice email, and then on his lap top he is able to play the email with my voice giving him the instructions! It’s awesome—and eliminates all room for doubt or misunderstanding. It’s also a great tool if you want someone to get the point which only your real voice can do.

Anyone who has an email address can be on your MailCall list. But I guarantee you this—once they receive a voice MailCall from you, they will want to be on the list as well

I used to hate e-mails. It was a nuisance to have to sit down at my computer just to check them. On the rare occasion that I would access them, the information was already stale. Due to a computer breakdown last year, I went through an 8-month period when I didn't have home computer access. The girls' soccer coach would request other team members to contact me regarding the latest team information.

Then MailCall went live! Now I am in-touch with my e-mails at will. I use the service for my business and personal e-mails. It’s like having a personal secretary in an ordinary telephone. I love the fact that MailCall gives me the functionality of a complicated PDA without having to buy an extra piece of hardware, maintain it, remember to carry it with me, deal with the annoyance of carrying it with me, read off a small screen, scroll down, try to type on a keyboard where the width of the average finger covers 3 keys... See!!! I'm already frustrated and I don't even own one!

With MailCall, I can easily navigate my e-mails because it allows the user to skip, delete, read faster, go to a particular message, forward to other e-mails, fax to any fax number (this is very useful with attached files), as well as speak new e-mails to contacts in my address book from my or any other telephone. I can reply to each message with my own voice or a default text message. I can perform one or all of these functions with just one phone call. That’s the beauty of this thing. If you can operate a telephone you can utilize MailCall.

As a pharmacist, I am always on the phone. I believe most businesses would be able to recapture valuable time spent utilizing MailCall technology without having to invest in a costly enterprise solution. I am especially excited about the website reading capabilities of the technology. I foresee a time when most businesses, large and small, will create websites allowing the consumer to interact with the site from his/her telephone. From the bookmarked websites in the MailCall address book, a consumer will soon be able do just about everything from food shopping to paying bills.

As a blind person in the business world, I have always had trouble giving the impression that I was computer savvy. It was difficult to perform the so-called simple tasks of sending and receiving email unless I had someone there to help me. If I ever had to send an email by myself, I would have to guess that I was in the correct email window to type text and hope that I was clicking on the correct button to send. For this reason, email was very discouraging for me. Often times I would not even bother to check my email, leaving 30-40 messages without a response.

MailCall has made my life so much easier! It has even given my wife more free time because she was usually the one who had to read my emails and write what I would dictate to her for a response. I am so happy that these hindrances have been eliminated. Because MailCall is audio email, I can now check my email anytime I want. I am up to date with all of my emails, responding to them with my voice within minutes of receiving them.

It is so easy to access email and I don’t need to take the time to get on a computer. I just use my cell phone’s voice memory to call MailCall, press #, enter my pin and I have my email. The 12 buttons on the phone are much easier to touch accurately than the many keys on a keyboard. Even navigating through MailCall’s menus is easy because the prompts tell you clearly which button to press. I can choose which emails I want read, deleted or even forwarded.

My favorite baseball team, the New York Mets, is having a busy off-season. I look forward to using MailCall’s web reader to stay up to date with their transactions and the upcoming season.

I am very happy MailCall was at the New York Federation of the Blind Convention. I look forward to telling all of my friends and colleagues about this product. There are many blind individuals out there that do not have email addresses because of the hassle of visual email. MailCall makes it so easy for anyone to keep in touch with friends and family members that I am telling my blind friends to get email addresses just to use MailCall!
